Scientists in the UK have been able to successfully print corneas for the first time! Using a bio 3 D printer they were able to create an “ink” made out of stem cells, collagen and alginate. This unique formulation allows the cornea to stay alive while at the same time maintaining it’s shape. The most amazing part is that the whole process only took 10 minutes! While they still have to do more research before transplanting these into people – the future is here
